More new jewelry than you can shake a stick at!
Dude, mommy has been bizz-E. I have been whipping up all kinds of new jewelry for Naughty Secretary Club and then some! Sometimes I get on these kicks where I just sit and make jewelry all the day long and the last few days have kind of been like that. Look for new handmade ear bobs in Revamped Vintage and Nostalgic Notions Earrings. Plus a ton of newness in Nouveau Earrings.
My sister Hope added some awesome one of a kind hand painted purses plus my mom has new Pop Purses to show you.
Yesterday I also added new Revamped Vintage and Nouveau Brooches plus some new Nouveau Bracelets.
Also yesterday I went by Parts and Labour on S. Congress and took everything out of my shelf. Why? Because I replaced it with all new stuff. So if you are in the hood stop by and take a peeksie.

Chatting up my friends on DIY Holiday Wish List!
Yesterday I almost forgot I had to go down to the KRLU studios on UT campus and do voice over work for Craft Lab. What this means is I sat on a stool in a huge room with a wee little light and a panty hose screened microphone and read scripts. All the “Coming up next on Craft Lab” type stuff. I am so excited for the new season to start airing, maybe as soon as January! The other cool thing was I did the voice overs in the same building where they film the Austin City Limits TV show and I got to go over and see the set. I have never been to a taping, it is actually kind of small.
This week on Craft Lab I see today they are showing the episode I did with Walter Knabe and his daughter Gwen. Only one of handful of episodes I filmed with two people at the same time. Wednesday is screen printed polymer clay light switch covers with Seth Savarick. Man you can screen print on anything. Thursday is collage paper with my good friend Traci Bautista. DIY Network must love this episode they show it a lot! Did I show you the article Traci wrote on me for Somerset Studios? Friday is Chris DeRubeis and we do a little airbrushing, which I am the first to admit I am not so hot at. However, by season two when Chris was on I at least was getting a little better!
In other Craft Lab news have you been watching any of the DIY Network holiday specials? There is the Holiday Open House and the Holiday Wish List. I filmed both this past summer in Knoxville with a gaggle of DIY hosts that were awesome! Be sure and keep your eye balls peeled for both. I am particularly found of the DIY Holiday Wish List because I got to talk about a few of my friends.
On the show I chat about several different crafty projects that people might like for Christmas. One of the items I mention is an embroidery kit by my good friend Jenny Hart of Sublime Stitching. I even brought along the banner she embroidered my husband Chris and I for our wedding. Another goodie I talk about on the show that I am super fond of is the book TEASE - 50 Inspired T-shirt Transformations by Superstars of Art, Craft & Design by Sarah Sockit. Well yours truly is one of the contributors. On the Holiday Wish List there is an example of the project I did where I made a necklace out of a T-shirt and Ping Pong Balls. The whole book is really cool.
If you go to the Holiday Wish List website on DIY you will see a couple of other friends that I got to mention. One is Claudine Hellmuth and her poppet kits. I was sad they didn’t show this part on air, but you can watch the video on the DIY website. Claudine’s art is super awesome and she even made me my own little set of poppet puppets of my fam on Craft Lab season 2. They live happily in my kitchen. Lastly there is a quick blurb about a dachshund Stitch It Kit from Fred Flare. I love anything related to wiener dogs because that is how I met my husband. He was my bus driver in college and he has a big tattoo of a weenie dog the length of his right calf. So everyday when I get on the bus at college I would think “Gee I hope wiener dog boy is my bus driver today”. His groom’s cake was even made to look like a dachshund.
So anywhoo check out the DIY Holiday Specials if you get a chance.

Went to a lot of Antique Malls, Thrift Stores and Flea Markets.
So besides spending my Thanksgiving holiday shoe shopping I also went to a lot of antique malls, thrift stores and flea markets. Pretty much my favorite thing to do in the whole wide world. I had a lot of good scores for fun jewelry goodies. I am trying to make a bunch of new one of a kind things for Naughty Secretary Club, my shelf at Parts and Labour and the Austin Craft Mafia booth at blue Genie.
The scan is just a little sample of some of the goodies I got. See I was in Dallas and it was the Fair Park Flea Market there and then I came back to Austin and it was the City Wide Garage Sale here. It was like heaven. I scored owl pendants, retro plastic hotel room keys, Bakelite belt buckles, plastic children’s jewelry from Japan, lockets, buddhas, buttons and more. I spent most of yesterday making new jewelry and fondling all my new goodies.
Oh and I need some advice. If you were trying to find jewelry like mine on the net and you did not know my URL, what are the words you would search for? “One of a Kind Necklaces”, “Big Earrings”, “Chunky Rings”? Email me or post your ideas here.
P.S. I added 4 new Pop Purses to the site this morning.

Is it bad that I have bought 5 pairs of shoes this week?
I'm here in McKinney, TX visiting my fam for turkey day. Took me 6 hours to drive here from Austin. Man traffic sucks. How was your Thanksgiving? Mine was fine and dandy. We had my 98 year old grandmother over to the house with us and she has not been to my parents house in probably 20 years. We just moved her to an assisted living place here in Texas from Illinois. Probably the first Thanksgiving I have ever spent with her since we always went to Tyler/Troup/Whitehouse to see my other grandparents at the holidays. Fun was had by all.
I am here in McKinney for another day and been here since Tuesday. We have done some shopping, but mostly a lot of laying around. My mom added some new Pop Purses like this camera bag to Naughty Secretary Club and some change purses. I have a bunch of new jewelry I need to add and Hope is furiously painting a new batch of purses. So don't forget us when doing your Holiday Shopping. Just place your order by December 11th to get your goodies by Christmas.
Is it bad that I have bought 5 pairs of shoes this week and a new pair of shoelaces? Let me explain. Remeber the Lucky Brand track jacket made to look like a souvenir jacket from Japan that I got a Macys? Well if you recall I got that jacket because I had been given a gift certificate to Macy's. Needless to say there is not a lot of clothing that tickles my fancy there, but there are an endless number of shoes that I like. I scored a new pair of winter black boots and then a short pair of fun boots. While here shopping in Dallas I cam across an $18 pair of Chartruse green Mary Janes. How could I say no to that. So that puts me at 3 pairs. From there my mother and I went into a Payless while my sister shopped at the 1/2 of a 1/2 store next door (we like a bargain) and they were having a buy one pair get the second pair half off sale. So I found these black shoes I have the picture of for like $16 and a pair of glitter covered gold shoes, so tackalicious they would make you cry that I got for $8. So you can see I was completely in the right to get all 5 pairs this week. Oh and I got new aqua laces for my rainbow Adiadas!

Happy Birthday Hope & Vickie!
I am so frustrated because right now I want to change my My Space song to “Camero” by this band called Hammerhead and it is not on there. It is kind of an obscure song featuring Kat Bjelland of Babes in Toyland, but man is it good and now it is stuck in my head. Luckily I have the Screwed soundtrack. I opted for “Everything Is” by Neutral Milk Hotel instead.
So here is a picture of Karly, Moi, Tina and Jesse at Stitch last week. The nice people at Craft Magazine were sweet enough to not only be sponsors of Stitch but to come out and visit the event. They took this picture of the 4 of us and also posted about us on their blog. I also found another article about Stitch in Austin Daze. If you find any articles, blogs or fun pictures about Stitch please send my way.
Speaking of Stitch, I just got myself another 31 Corn Lane bag this past week. Not only that I got one for a friend for a Christmas gift. Seriously the little roller totes are handy as all get out. It rolls up and gets really compact and then we you are on a serious shopping bender all you gotta do is unfold and roll and you are ready. I got it for when I go to trade shows like CHA and I have a million and one things to tote around in a giant convention center.
In other craft fair news after saying I was not going to do it, I changed my mind. I am going to have jewelry at the Blue Genie Christmas Bazaar. I feel like I live at this warehouse on the east side during the month of December every year. It is my favorite holiday craft show in all of Austin so be sure and come out and see the Austin Craft Mafia booth!
Oh and one more thing Birthday shout outs to my younger sister Hope Perkins who celebrates her special day today! Happy Birthday Vickie, she had her big day Saturday. Be sure and wish em well.
Here they are on the set of Stylelicious. Man my sister has a big pretty smile, wish I had gotten those genes!

Where to find Naughty Secretary Club jewelry.
This week has been about the wholesale orders for me it seems.
RED ENVY BOUTIQUE – this is a new store for me in Columbus, Ohio. If you are in that neck of the woods stop by the store and check out their new selection of Naughty Secretary Club goodies.
PARTS AND LABOUR – An Austin staple, I rent a shelf here, it’s big and orange and right by the cash register. I went by the store this week and fluffed my shelf a bit as well as dropped off a bunch of new baubles. A lot of times Parts and Labour is where you are going to find one of a kind items that never make it to my website. Oh and I promise to bring more Scrabble bracelets there soon.
FLIPNOTICS – I love making jewelry for Flipnotics. Right off Barton Springs in Austin, TX they are one of those cool stores that lets me make a big batch of one of a kind stuff and then they pick through the baubles and take what they want. I just took them a big load of stuff on Tuesday so get there while the getting’s good.
BETTY’S DIVINE – Right in the heart of Missoula, MT this woman cleans me out of hair clips. Another store that lets me do whatever I please in that department so they end up getting some of my cutest clips if your asking me. Fer sure ones that never make it to Naughty Secretary Club.
In other exciting news the dude who has been programming my website for me is ALMOST DONE! Get ready for Naughty Secretary Club V5. This baby has a search engine, new fancy OS Commerce shopping cart which means in theory I will never oversell stuff again, a pictorial guide to matching goodies and more. Oh this is exciting stuff.
$10 SALE!!! To celebrate and really to clean house for the new site I am having another sale. I know I just ended the 15% off sale yesterday, but in Nouveau Necklaces, Nouveau Bracelets and Nouveau Earrings majority of the goodies (unless they are brand spanking new) are only $10 and that is shipping included. Like whoa cheap.
Oh and if you live in Austin I best be seeing you at Gallery Lombardi tonight for the Stitch thank you party hosted by Carlo Rossi. 8-12.

Your Weekend Guide to Entertainment in Austin
Just when you thought Stitch was over, we have one more trick up our sleeve: a thank you party!
WHAT: Stitch Thank You Party brought to you by Carlo Rossi
WHEN: Friday Nov 17th
WHERE: Gallery Lombardi (910 W. 3rd St)
TIME: 8pm-12am
MUSIC PROVIDED BY: Ian Orth and DJ Mahealani
HOW MUCH: Free!
WHO'S INVITED: Everyone and anyone over 21.
Also enjoy more shopping and model watching. A few of the lovely ladies from the runway will be strutting their stuff around Gallery Lombardi so you can get a closer looksie at the clothing.
There will also be shopping with Sweet Tooth Bags, Rural Rooster Clothing, Machine Ballerina and second place Stitch grant winner Vinca.
Speaking of Stitch and your weekend, this means you have Saturday free and clear. Why don't you head over to the Velveta Room to see Matt Bearden our Stitch MC for the past 3 years unleash the funny on people. He will be there Friday and Saturday night.
Also this weekend is the East Austin Studio Tour. The pit stops I am making are Gallery Dv8 to see my sister Hope Perkins pieces and to Bolm Studios to see my lovely assistant Travis Nichols goodies.
While your over on the East Side you might wanna stop by Method Hair between the hours of 5pm and 9pm for a grand opening party. These peeps are not only good friends of mine, but also one of the teams that made the models on the runway at Stitch look Hotty Mc-Hottersons.
Saturday night is the Team Fabrication fashion show at The Parish. Remeber that hot model of Hope and I's with the red hair and Biggie Smalls dress? That was Jen and she is one of the designers. Jen Rea, Elf Girl and Tara Bouley will be showing clothing. Clap Clap, Car Stereo Wars and More will be taking care of the music.
You might be thinking to yourself, but what are you doing today Jennifer? Well don't you worry, I've managed to cram something in of course. Karly and I are headed to Antones to see Mr. Stephen Moser's collection. Did you see the Austin Chronicle today and the story he did about Stitch?
So see it is a busy weekend with lots to do. These are just the things I am suggesting to you. On top of this I am meeting Vickie and her crew (including Dimitri Martin) out, stopping by Stubbs to see my friend Zollo from Pretty Girls Make Graves and going to a Thanksgiving Pot Luck. Hopefully sleeping will be in there too.
Oh and in case you forgot TODAY IS THE LAST DAY OF THE 15% OFF SALE AT NAUGHTY SECRETARY CLUB!

Stuff + Cats = Awesome
I have a 7 year old friend named Peyton. He is actually the son of one of my hubby’s band mates, PJ and Whitney Lee of Made With Sweet Love. Peyton is also a Stitch goodie bag stuffer extraordinaire. For the last 2 years he has sat for hours on end with us and stuffed goodie bags with postcards, buttons, coupons and more. Even this year when the bags went from 250 to 500, not one complaint from Peyton.
So the exciting news about Peyton is that today he had some of his artwork published on Stuff on My Cat, my second favorite cute animal site next to Cute Overload. Go to the site and leave lots of comments and check out all the other adorable pictures.

Stitch is over, and now I am kind of sad.
Ya know I could not wait for Saturday to be over and now that it is, I feel kind of sad. I love Stitch it is like my baby, but it is also a tricky show to put together that can suck up all your time so there is that sigh of relief when it is all said and done. I keep comparing producing Stitch to getting married and since the other 3 ladies have not sold their souls to the marital devil like myself they don’t quite understand what I mean. In two ways is Stitch like a wedding.
When I planned my wedding several years ago all my free time was consumed with planning. Is the florist going to have enough Kermit mums? Do we need a generator for the margarita machines? Do we have enough vintage table cloths for all the tables? You plan and plan and then the day after your wedding there is this weird sinking feeling that all the planning is over and what are you going to do with yourself now. Even though for weeks I have been saying “After Stitch on Saturday, I can’t wait to relax”, now I am kind of sad and missing all the anticipation. Oh well it’s not like we don’t start planning in January so I really only get a month and half off. The other way Stitch is like a wedding is that it is like you are planning a huge party for a bunch of people, but you can’t really ever relax at the party yourself because you are the host. I could not really drink the margaritas at my wedding and at Stitch the few beers I had were only after the runway and I could tell myself that none of the models fell off the stage.
Thank you to everyone who came out to Stitch. All my friends who came out to support and all the strangers who just came out to see fashion, listen to good music and shop in the some of the bestest craft booths ever. Thanks to the vendors, the bands, the DJs, the sponsors, the volunteers, everyone! Today I am beaming with pride for Karly, Tina, Jesse and I. I think we pulled everything off without a hitch. This is the 3rd venue for Stitch and our biggest yet. All I know is Austin Music Hall holds 3,000 people and the manager told me we had to quit selling tickets at about 8:30 because we were at capacity. We had run out of the 2,000 wrist bands we had brought earlier so I kind of thought that might happen.
Yesterday I spent the day walking up and down the drag with my friends Traci and Karl doing some shopping and showing them the town. Karl was selling T-shirts in the Partybots booth and Traci was demoing in the Duncan paints booth.
Today I found our first little bit of press for Stitch in The Daily Texan. Read the story here. They like the segment I did with sister and my mom, whoo! Here are 4 different blog links: Tashina Knight, Textile Fetish, Dioramarama and Shanntastic that talk about Stitch. Oh and a link to Cory’s pictures, Farid’s pictures, Young and With It has pictures from this year and this year and then my pictures. I’ll post more as I get them.
Oh and I'll remind you of this all week long, but um ya there is a Stitch after party that everyone over 21 is invited to. This Friday Nov 17th at Gallery Lombardi. Pictures from the show presented by Super Alright, More Carlo Rossi jug furniture and fun, a handful of craft booths and more. Please come over and say hello between 8-12.

Lobster Bisque Necklace
Slowly but surly I am adding new goodies to Naughty Secretary Club. This necklace is called Lobster Bisque and it makes me laugh. I also added some new Revamped Vintage and Nostalgic Notions Necklaces. Wait till you see all the rings and earrings I am gonna add!
So yesterday was spent on the phone with lawyers, taking pictures of jewelry, attempting to write witty descriptions about said jewelry and then capping the night off by a trip to my sister’s porch where we were joined by Vickie, Erin and Dave. We had a couple of drinks and watched the election results come in.
Today is going to be more of the same, but I get to spend the night stuffing Stitch goodie bags at Jesse’s house! Can you believe we have already sold over 400 tickets! Good thing we moved to the bigger venue.

This was not one of my better hair choices.
So not much has changed since we spoke yesterday I am still in Stitch overdrive. We are in the midst of putting the final touches on things such as programs. Yesterday I had to run to Jenny’s house and swing by Parts and Labour to pick some things up for the Fashion Fix Friday giveaway on 94.7 with Elaina Martin. I’ll keep you posted on when it airs. Jesse and I also went down to the News 8 Austin studios and did a quickie interview with Paul Brown about Stitch. For those of you who wanted to see my new hair you can kinda see. You can fer sure see the pink streak up the side of my head, I told you I was not in love with it. The teal is washing out to a very pathetic dirty blue green quickly. This was not one of my better hair choices, but it had been so long since I had had pink or teal hair it sounded like a fun change. So anyway when you watch the video you also get a sneak peak at the goodie bags for Stitch. My friends at 31 Corn Lane were sweet enough to give us 400 rainbow tote bags that are going to act as our free goodie bags. So not only do you get all the good stuff inside, the bag it’s self is awesome. I carried my rainbow tote forever, I now use a red 31 Corn Lane Carry All Bag. So anywhoo here is a little list of some of the goodies inside the bag…
What are some things you can expect to find inside the bags?
Ready Made Magazine
Coffee
Glitter Modge Podge
Clamour Magazine
Pin Cushions
Badges
Aleene's Original Tacky Glue
Bag Lunch Lip Balm
Rare Magazine
Tulip Cool Color Spray
Candy
Coupons for No Sweat Apparel, Parts and Labour, Spiderhouse and I Love Video
CDs from Austin’s Has Anyone Ever Told You?
Today I have my new assistant Travis coming in to work. He will have goodies for sale at the Austin Craft Mafia booth at Stitch. He makes really cute comics. I need to get Travis to do about a million things and get myself to do about the same. I bought some red and white polka dotted paper yesterday to make some jewelry out of for Stitch. We are doing a naughtical theme. I also need to finish up a charm bracelet I am making for Susan Stars new jewelry book.
So needless to say I gotta wrap this post up and get to work.

Stitch in Nylon

Have you seen the November issue of Nylon magazine? Perhaps you receive their weekly newsletters? Well Stitch was mentioned in both. HOORAY!
“the mafia is the force behind the town’s most interesting night of fashion, Stitch – a runway show that is as much about the community as it is about the clothes. Celebrating it’s fourth anniversary this month at the Austin Music Hall, Stitch is the place to see what really makes Austin’s fashion scene tick: the rock-n-roll spirit of the underground.”
Between the newsletter and the article other Stitch people we love like our fantabulous MC Matt Bearden, our headlining bands +/- (Plus Minus) and Irving, Austin's favorite store and runway peeps Parts and Labour get shout outs.
Stitch is this coming Saturday Nov 11th at the Austin Music Hall (208 Nueces). Doors open at 5:00 for shopping, fashion show at 9:30, bands immediately following.
You can buy advance tickets now that will be on will call at the Music Hall Saturday night.
Ok sorry for making this post more like an ad for Stitch. Actually it is the bulliten I just posted through My Space for us. Seemed easier to only write it all once. Actually the Nylon article also has some quotes from me and features the Hot Lips Necklace.
How was your weekend? Mine was fine and dandy. I went to the Misprint party Friday night at Flamingo Cantina as well as Beauty Bar and Emos. Saturday and Sunday I did not leave the house. Watched lots of bad movies and made lots of jewelry.

Wonder Woman
I forgot buried on my website I had a picture of me in one of my early Halloween costumes. What female child of the 70’s did not go out for Halloween as Wonder Woman? I started dabbling in feminism early I guess. My mom whipped me up this costume; I told you she is crafty. Hope everyone had a nice Halloween. We had a few trick-or-treaters, enough to wipe me out of candy. Chris and I listened to the Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack and hung out for the rest of the evening.
In other news I just came across this little write up about Naughty Secretary Club at Funky Finds. Check it out.
